The Sri Lankan Hill Country Leopard ๐Ÿ†⛰️๐ŸŒฒ

Image
The Sri Lankan Hill Country Leopard ๐Ÿ†⛰️๐ŸŒฒ The Sri Lankan Leopard (Panthera pardus kotiya), an apex predator endemic to the island, is a crowning jewel of Sri Lanka's natural heritage. These majestic felines are most notably found in the mist-shrouded, high-altitude forests of the Central Highlands, including Horton Plains, the Peak Wilderness, and Nuwara Eliya. To withstand the biting cold of the mountains, hill country leopards possess a thicker coat compared to their counterparts in the dry zone, often appearing darker and more robust in stature. As the dominant predator of the highland ecosystem, the leopard plays a vital role in maintaining the delicate balance of the environment. ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ†✨ Known for its elusive and solitary nature, the hill country leopard is a master of camouflage, often moving silently through the dense undergrowth and morning fog. However, despite their stealth, these magnificent creatures face severe threats due to habitat loss and the increasing use of ille...

The father of free education

The Father of Free Education  C.W.W. Kannangara ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ The name of the Honorable C.W.W. Kannangara is etched in golden letters in the history of Sri Lankan education. Revered as the "Father of Free Education," he was an incomparable leader who dedicated his life to ensuring that every child in the country, regardless of their socio-economic status, had the right to learn for free. By introducing the Free Education Act to the State Council in the 1940s, he initiated a revolutionary transformation that opened the doors of higher education—previously reserved for the elite—to the children of the common masses. ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿซ Mr. Kannangara’s core vision was that education is a fundamental birthright of a human being, not a commodity to be purchased with wealth. Through his visionary "Central College" concept, children in rural areas were granted the opportunity to study under facilities equal to those in urban schools. The vast majority of doctors, engineers, artists, and sc...

This large, double-sided barrel drum is crafted from solid wood and is celebrated for its ability to produce a thunderous sound that resonates through massive crowds. The Dhol features two distinct sides: the "Treble" side, which produces a sharp, high-pitched tone, and the "Bass" side, which delivers a deep, booming resonance. Together, they create a rhythmic complexity that is both captivating and incredibly energizing. ๐Ÿฅ⚡ Played using two different wooden sticks—the thicker, curved "Dagga" for the bass and the thinner "Tilli" for the treble—the Dhol requires immense physical strength and rhythmic precision. My School

Image
My School A person’s foundation is built within the walls of their school. My educational journey and character were shaped under the shelter of two of Sri Lanka’s most prestigious institutions ๐Ÿซ๐ŸŽ“. The guidance I received from these schools is what molded me into the artist and entrepreneur I am today. My schooling began at Lalith Athulathmudali College, which was established in the early 1980s with the noble vision of empowering children with knowledge ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ“š. From Grade 1, the teachers there were a great strength to me, recognizing and nurturing my natural talents. Just as I succeeded in the Grade 5 Scholarship exam, it was here that my heart turned toward sports and the arts. Starting Table Tennis in Grade 3 and Dance in Grade 4, I had the honor of representing my school consistently from Grade 6 to Grade 11 ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ’ƒ. The rigorous training and discipline I gained during that time provided a strong foundation for my life’s journey ๐Ÿ›ก️✨. After my Ordinary Level exams, I joined D.S. ...
